About the Author
Eric Jensen is an internationally recognized educator known for his translation of neuroscience into practical classroom applications. A former teacher, he is the author of over twenty books, including the widely acclaimed Teaching with the Brain in Mind. He is a longtime member of the Society for Neuroscience and the New York Academy of Sciences. Jensen is currently a staff developer and is completing his Ph.D. in psychology.

He did it again...

I love how Eric tells it like it is to educators: If we want student achievement to soar, we are going to have to make changes, especially in how we engage our students and especially those students in poverty. On page 4, he says: "This book is a 'no excuses' resource that will get you on the path toward making good things happen every single day." This book is chock-full of easy to implement strategies to engage students. On an airplane ride home, I read this book quickly, highlighting many ideas that I can use immediately. More importantly, I am looking forward to sharing the powerful research and ideas with colleagues who teach in places where hope is dwindling or unfortunately gone.

"Solutions You Can Use"

This is a great book for anyone looking for easy-to-use ideas and strategies for working with students of poverty. All of the ideas are backed up with research, anecdotes, and real-life stories of teachers having success with high-poverty students. One of the best features of the book is the "Solutions You Can Use" sections in every chapter. You can begin using these ideas from day 1! While lots of books are touted as a "must read" this one truly is.

MUST READ!

This book is so filled with amazing, practical applications that it truly is a must read for every educator. Although written with poverty in mind, so much of it can be applied to any classroom and any struggling student. There is something for every teacher K-12!
I don't think my copy has a single page without some type of notes or underlining. So often I wrote, "Good idea or must try this."
So basically, Eric has done it again. He has provided us with a much needed tool to reach all students. I will be buying more copies as gifts for some of my educator friends. Thank you, Eric!
