About the Author
Joan Young is a teacher and therapeutic coach with 10 years of teaching experience in elementary classrooms and 25 years of experience tutoring students of all ages. She specializes in working with students who need extra support in self-regulation and executive functioning skills. Her principle interests include the application of positive psychology to education, how resilience can help children who have experienced trauma and loss, mindfulness in schools, and teaching through multiple modalities. She is the author of 25 Super Sight Word Songs & Mini Books and the blog Finding Ways for All Kids to Flourish (allkidscanflourish.blogspot.com).

more for the elementary classes

While I enjoyed this quick read, I found it lacking more for the high school teacher. One can extrapolate information from this work, it seems more applicable to certain age groups. That said, it is a concise, powerful book that will cause reflect and challenge for teachers to foster learning.

This books offers great examples for all teachers, but especially newer ones who need to really assess practice to encourage students. I will be giving my copy to my mentee. I think it can make a great impact for him in middle school math
