Short and Sour

The book may be of value for curriculum developers and those interested in the details of how the pieces of the Common Core Math Standards fit together, but it is of minimal use for teachers looking for practical ideas for putting the standards into use in their classrooms. Although there are three sample lessons presented in the back of the book, the book's appeal and usefulness to the practicing teacher would have been enhanced with a sprinkling of hand-on activities and examples throughout the body of the text. This is one case where brevity did not serve an advantage. I found another book at Amazon, "Putting the Practices into Action" by Susan O'Connell and John SanGiovanni, much more beneficial. It's an easy, interesting read with lots of good ideas.
